Top Android App is a public leaderboard for real Android apps. An app's lifetime paid total determines its position in the default Top view.

How ranking works

Bids are made in whole US dollars, with a $1 minimum. Every successful payment is added to the app's lifetime total, which does not expire. The default Top view ranks paid apps from the highest total to the lowest. If totals are equal, the app with the earlier most recent bid stays above.

The New view shows paid apps by their original paid publication time without changing their Top rank. The suggested amount is the amount needed to take #1 in Top, but you can choose a smaller amount. Bidding again on the same app adds to its existing total rather than creating another listing. Every new listing requires a successful payment before it appears publicly.

Each Google Play category also has its own ranking using the same lifetime paid total and tie-break rules. Category rank is independent from the default Top rank, so an app can be #5 overall and #1 in its category. Google Play game genres are grouped into the Games category.

Eligible apps

The app must be live, publicly available for Android, and accessible through a valid Google Play Store listing. Cross-platform apps are eligible when the submitted link points to their Android listing. Google Play listings are matched by their unique Android package ID.

Prohibited listings

Unrelated websites, unpublished or unfinished concepts, fake apps, impersonation, misleading duplicates, malware, deceptive downloads, illegal products, and adult content are not permitted. Tracking parameters are removed from submitted Google Play links. Listings that stop being a real, publicly available Android app may be flagged or removed.

After payment

A completed payment claims the rank determined by the app's new lifetime total. The listing becomes public and links to its Google Play page. Other apps can pay more and move above it. Placement does not guarantee clicks, downloads, sales, reviews, or Google Play ranking. Automated acceptance is not an endorsement, and listings that break these rules may be removed.
